Manev & Partners – host of the annual AVRIO Advocati Autumn Conference 20172 October 2017
Manev & Partners was the hosting firm of the annual autumn conference of Avrio Advocati, held in Sofia on the 29th and 30th of September. Avrio Advocati is a non-profit organisation that has created a network of law firms with a strong base in Europe as well as members in America, Hong Kong and Australia. Manev & Partners is also a proud member, exclusively in Bulgaria. Attending the conference gives valuable networking opportunities and permanently updated knowledge of legal and business developments in other jurisdictions.
This year's discussion topics on the first day of the autumn conference were "China's one belt road initiative", with the accent on China-Europe-Bulgaria's relations and Chinese investments into Europe through Bulgaria. Our respected panelists were:
- Mr. Krassin Dimitrov - Former Deputy Minister of Economy, who was also the moderator of the panel discussion;
- Ms. Julia Charlton - Principal Partner of Charlton Law, based in Hong Kong legal firm, and a member of Avrio's network;
- Mr. Latchezar Dinev - a chairman of the Bulgarian-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry;
- Ms. Nia Yotova - Business Development Manager at MobiSystems, Inc., a worldwide leading provider of mobile productivity and business and one of the most successful IT Bulgarian companies.
These topics were successfully combined with discussions about the more and more popular cryptocurrencies and the recent ethnical crisis in Myanmar as really important business and political matters.
The accent of the second day of the conference was put on the approaching Bulgarian presidency of the Council of Europe, with our speaker - Mrs. Dilyana Slavova as a President of the European Economic and Social Committee's (EESC) External Relations Section. We didn't forget to mention Brexit's reflection on European economics and especially in the area of European donations. All these topics were discussed from legal perspective, in order for the conference to be the most useful and interesting for our lawyer's network.
Moreover, since the conference's main purpose is to update our knowledge on doing business in other jurisdictions and discuss common world problems within the legal sector, we couldn't miss the topic about using social media and computer technology in the law business - a workshop lead by Mrs. Verginia Nakova - coach and founder of Training Academy- a talent development company.
Along with the business agenda, the participants experienced the culture of Bulgaria with numbers of social activities including tasting of Bulgarian wines, walking tour around the most popular sightseeing destinations in Sofia city, as well as a folklore evening in a traditional Bulgarian restaurant.
